April 2007 Project

Our inaugural service project in Kenya was a truly remarkable event. It all started with a 2006 invitation from a friend to assist her in building onto one of her schools in a rural area near Machakos Town in Kenya’s Eastern Province. At the time, Other Paths was conducting outdoor programs with students from St. Elizabeth High School in Oakland , CA. We recruited six students, who worked for 10 months to raise over $35,000 for the project. What you see below is a testament to the power of teamwork, leadership, and reaching beyond one’s comfort zone to create a meaningful, lasting impact on the lives of many, many people.
